1. Policy Statement
Skelton-on-Ure Pub and Hub Ltd is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all individuals involved in the renovation and reopening of the pub. We aim to prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health by managing health and safety risks in the workplace.
2. Responsibilities
2.1. The Chairman of Skelton-on-Ure Pub and Hub Ltd holds overall responsibility for health and safety.
2.2. Committee members are responsible for:
- Overseeing health and safety practices
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures
- Managing and reporting risks effectively
3. Risk Assessment
3.1. A risk assessment will be carried out to identify potential hazards, including trip hazards.
3.2. Identified risks will be logged and mitigated accordingly.
4. Guidance
4.1. All individuals involved in the renovation will be provided with necessary health and safety guidance.
5. Control Measures
5.1. Control measures will include:
- A logbook for site entry
- A minimum of two people working at any time
- Provision and mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Random inspections to ensure compliance
6. Communication
6.1. Health and safety procedures will be communicated through signs, face-to-face guidance, and the organisation’s website.
6.2. An open reporting policy for health and safety breaches and risks will be implemented.
7. Incident Reporting and Management
7.1. Any incidents or accidents will be reported face-to-face and logged in the accident logbook.
7.2. If these reporting methods are deemed unsatisfactory, the HSE provides a whistleblowing/anonymous reporting facility.
8. Public Safety
8.1. The public will not have access to the building during the renovation process, except through the committee.
8.2. A safe route will be established for public footpath users to ensure their safety.
9. Post-renovation Health and Safety
9.1. Once the pub is reopened, the tenant landlord will be responsible for maintaining health and safety standards, with oversight from the committee.
