COMMUNITY PUB AND HUB

Black Lion Now Under Community Ownership

Black Lion Now Under Community Ownership

Today marks a significant milestone for our campaign to re-open The Black Lion as we successfully completed the purchase of the building and land from Admiral Taverns.

Firstly, we would like to express our gratitude to every resident of our village, and especially to our shareholders, for their unwavering trust and support in the committee throughout this process. It is a testament to our shared vision and commitment to community spirit that we’ve been able to achieve this remarkable feat. We also received significant funding from the Government’s Levelling-Up fund.

However, the journey has only just begun. The real work now lies ahead – to breathe new life into The Black Lion Pub. Our task now is to renovate and re-open the pub, transforming it into a vibrant community hub that we can all be proud of. We are calling upon the collective strength and skills of our community to make this vision a reality. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or someone who’s handy with a paintbrush, we need all hands on deck.

For safety reasons, the committee will be undertaking the initial stages of the internal clear-out, ensuring any dangerous items are removed. We kindly request residents to refrain from accessing the site until further notice to ensure everyone’s safety.

Shareholders will be personally invited for a tour of the site where they will be given an explanation of the plans and the work required. This is a fantastic opportunity to witness firsthand the transformation of our beloved pub.

For those who were initially hesitant, it’s not too late to become a part of this exciting venture. The share purchase scheme remains open, offering everyone a chance to contribute to and share in the success of our community-owned pub.
